Education funding

K-12 education funding by school system

How Alberta’s provincial K-12 dollars split across public districts, Catholic / separate districts, francophone regions, charter schools, and private schools (both funded and non-funded). Every non-Education-ministry grant to a school authority is shown separately so cross-ministry dollars are never silently counted as “education funding.”

Per-pupil equity gap

At the FY 2024-25 grain, Alberta funds private (funded) schools at roughly $4,227 per pupil and Catholic / separate districts at $20,029 — a per-pupil gap of $15,802.

The gap is the policy-misalignment finding made visible: the same provincial purse funds different K-12 systems at very different rates. Use the per-pupil toggle below to inspect the rest of the ladder.
