Related Parties and Governance Networks

A related party is anyone who could profit from a public-sector decision they influenced — appointees who become vendors, board overlaps, undisclosed conflicts. Alberta already publishes enough open data to surface fuzzy-match leads where appointees and MLAs share names with provincial vendors.

What this page shows now
Live name-match leads between government_appointments (Order-in-Council appointees, MLAs) and the Alberta vendor universe, with per-lead drill-down to underlying records.
What is missing to prove more
Post-employment destinations (where former officials end up), beneficial-ownership records, and a stable cross-jurisdiction identifier that would resolve name collisions deterministically rather than by string similarity.
Why it matters
A name match is a starting point for a journalist or auditor — not a conflict-of-interest finding. The data on the other side of that gap (beneficial ownership, post-employment registers) is exactly what would let the system distinguish the two.
